Petersen's 1st BBQ - April 27, 2008

To celebrate the end of the semester (FINALLY!!!) Brad and I decided to do yard work, which turned into spending a lot of money and eventually turned into a BBQ. With all of the snow this winter and all of the school work taking up our time on the weekends our front and back yards have been neglected (to say the least). So on Saturday morning we decided to do something about it. A bunch of guys from our ward came over and helped Brad rip out all of the ugly, over grown trees and bushes in our backyard that have been blocking our view. That project was the beginning of a very long day. Once the bushes and trees were gone then we decided we needed to get some weeds pulled. So we spent the morning pulling weeds and trimming the remaining bushes. Then, taking a look at our grass, I realized we had the only unmowed grass in the neighborhood. We were the ones with the ghetto yard...my dad would have been ashamed! So we decided it was about time to invest in a lawnmower. So we headed off to Sears. Well we got a lawn mower but we came home with a nice new BBQ grill too. They were having a sale and Brad just couldn't pass up the great deal on the grill. So we came home, Brad moved the lawn, I raked the yard and then we put together our newest toy. The yard looks MUCH better now and we figured we needed to invite some folks over to celebrate with a BBQ on the new grill. So we invited Brad's family over for a Sunday dinner. It eneded up being a BEAUTIFUL day! So we cooked up some burgers and some hot dogs and had a great time. Brad was very proud of his grill. He even burn his arm hairs...now that's a REAL BBQing MAN!

So our yard is looking better and better and we are looking forward to enjoying the summer with our grill. The next project will be planting a garden...I'm so excited!
